When we purchased our lot in November 2008, we immediately researched available builders and BVH was one of our options. After sitting down with Bob, we knew it would be a good fit. When we were ready to build, the whole team at BVH was ready to help us. Our family was completely comfortable with BVH to build our home while we were out of state. When we walked up to our new home, we were amazed! It was better than we had imagined. The quality craftsmanship is evident everywhere and exceeded our expectations. Everything (selecting trim, fixtures, countertops, etc…) has been professional and upfront. We love our home and always recommend BVH to all of our friends who are looking to build a home!
Our experience with the BVH team has been incredible. They have built us a custom home in record time and with no issues. Almost seems unimaginable since we were not local, we built in NC but live year round in CT. Each of their team members took as much time as we needed almost as if we were their only customer. We were never once rushed or pushed off. We felt comfortable to ask any question, always receiving an honest answer.
The level of organization within the BVH Company is astonishing. Every detail, large and small were tracked and accounted for. The change order process and the financial reconciliation process could not have been smoother.

I’d like to take this opportunity to personally thank you and the entire BVH Construction team for building our dream home in Southern Pines.
I’ve always heard that building a home is the most stressful thing that a couple can accomplish together, but BVH proved the pundits wrong. There is nothing more satisfying than driving up to my home each day and seeing the actual end-product of my vision that started nearly two years ago. From our initial meeting in Pinehurst through the final removal of the BVH Construction sign in my front yard, the entire process was enjoyable. And, while I realize I am a stickler for details, every aspect of my home was constructed in an absolutely professional and meticulous manner.
Most importantly, I’d like to pass on my deepest appreciation to BVH Construction. I cannot imagine a better project manager for BVH Construction. He ensured that every single detail was addressed, and never accepted anything other than perfection by the sub-contractors. BVH made Kathy and I feel like we (and our home) were the most important things in the world. We always felt that our best interests were being served and I’m proud to give him the credit for making our dream home come true. Finally, I’d like to express my gratitude and amazement to BVH completing my home precisely on the initial project date – seven months from start to finish! My research had indicated that Southern Pines and Pinehurst Builders had an overwhelming reputation for running 2-6 months behind schedule. Your effort and timeliness were not missed by the Mid South Club members.

The Seven Lakes community is blessed with a cadre of excellent contractors. One of the best is BVH Construction Services. Bob and Kathy Van Houten have built a growing, high quality home building business that is now recognized for their “easy to work with” style. They have constructed a home and a commercial building for us and are now under contract to build another home. We are very comfortable working with the Van Houtens, their staff and their subcontractors. Great People.
As the developers of Legacy Lakes in Aberdeen, NC, Forest City Land Group Southeast has worked very closely with BVH Construction Services, Inc. for approximately 2 years.
Initially, this relationship began with the construction of the Plantation house. The 8,000 square foot community center houses our Welcome Center, Racquet & Fitness Club as well as a grand gathering room for residents and events. We were extremely pleased with the entire experience in which the project came in on time and under budget. Additionally, BVH Construction Service, Inc. is a member of our select builder group for single family homes and has recently contracted to construct the Townhome section in Legacy Lakes.

My wife and I have owned many homes over the years, but none we actually started from the design stage and contracted to build. Our home in Foxfire Village is to be our final residence and one we wanted exactly to our specifications.
From the pre-planning meetings to the final closing, your entire team made the process much easier than expected. Yes, there were many challenges, as new construction generally brings, but with your team’s guidance, knowledge and professionalism, we finished on time, in budget and best of all with a home that is 10 times better than we imagined it.
From start to finish, we were kept informed and in the loop as to what was happening and what our options were at any given stage. Your recommendations along the way made our home an even better finished product than our original specifications had outlined.
